Admission Requirements

– RN to BSN

  1. GPA Requirements
    • Minimum 2.75 GPA in Pre-Nursing Core Courses
      • Minimum "C" letter grade in each course
    • Minimum 2.00 GPA in all transferrable* units attempted
      • Minimum "C" letter grade in each course
      • Applicants with less than 60 transferrable units must also submit a High School Transcript
        • Applicants with a high school GPA less than a 3.0 must submit SAT or ACT scores
  2. Official transcripts from ALL postsecondary institutions
  3. Active and unencumbered RN license
  4. Reside in an approved state
  5. Application to the program
*Typically, CSUSM will only consider courses transferrable if earned from a regionally accredited institution. Regionally accredited agencies include: (+/-)

Submitting Transcripts to California State University

Applicants should submit transcripts to the University after successfully submitting their application to the University. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure all transcripts are submitted to the University by the published deadline. Please note, if you submitted transcripts to the University prior to the submitting your application you MUST notify the University by emailing el@csusm.edu.

  • Transcripts may be submitted either electronically or mailed to the University
    • Electronic Delivery (preferred delivery method)
      • Electronic transcripts can be provided through external or third party vendors (Credential Solutions, eTranscriptCA, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, etc.). When ordering your transcript, please choose California State University San Marcos as the intended recipient from the school name dropdown. If California State University San Marcos is not listed, please use transcripts@csusm.edu as the recipient email address.

      • If you select to mail your transcript, please ensure the transcript is in an envelope sealed by your school and addressed to:

  • Students with international coursework
    • You must submit academic records from foreign institutions. The original foreign transcript must be on file and if they are not written in English, they must be accompanied by certified English translations. In addition, all foreign transcripts must be evaluated by one of the eight approved CSUSM foreign transcript evaluation agencies.
    • All applicants, regardless of citizenship, who do not possess a bachelor's degree from a postsecondary institution where English is the principal language of instruction must satisfy the English language proficiency requirement. Typically, applicants demonstrate the English Proficiency requirement by submitting results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. Submission of these test scores should be sent to:
